Course Description: The material we (Rick Vitale and Mokshay Madiman) intend to cover includes a variety of inter-connected topics from probability, functional analysis, the theory of convex sets in Euclidean spaces, and statistics. Some mathematical maturity will be assumed (basic real and functional analysis, measure-theoretic probability, and basic statistical inference). We will not assume any knowledge of convex geometry, other than what one would know from the prerequisite courses anyway. Topics include concentration of measure, functional inequalities, geometric probability, random convex sets, the hyperplane conjecture, and other topics that will be determined based on student interest.
